So I have finally been given shadow shifts for next week, and they’ve told me they’re putting me on the rota. I’m doing night shifts Saturday and Sunday to gain more experience.

im also a student nurse and haven’t had any care home placements yet

so what paperwork do they do, is it mainly care plans or are there more to it? I know on the wards the hcas do the intentional roundings and fluid charts etc

When I worked in a care home at night you have to do care plans about each resident in the night. We did nightly records, sleep and rest sheets, shower charts for them that we had given a shower and also food and fluid charts for them that were given breakfast. We sometimes had to weight the residents if day shift hadn't got round to it and record there weight in the bmi chart and pass the information on to the teamleader in charge.

also we did input and output of urine if required.
