Neighbours‘ car alarm

Mumofthreeandme · 18/08/2022 07:08

My next door neighbours’ car alarm has been going off in the middle of the night for the last 3 nights. At least once. The first night it was 3 times, every few hours. It’s a fancy car, and the alarm is SO LOUD.

They clearly know it’s a problem, because it must be waking them to.

WIBU to still mention it? It’s bloody annoying, I’ve not had a full nights’ sleep in ages.

I had this some years ago, it was a talking alarm which said in an american accent" Step away from the car or the alarm will sound", this coupled with the fact that the neighbours alarm clock was sounding for ages and he obviously slept through it all, drove me to speak to him about it. It was sorted amicably, I suggest you try this

Erm ... what?

You want to know if you would be U to ask your neighbour to do something about his car alarm?

Dotjones · 18/08/2022 10:15

Do they know for sure? Have you told them? The reason I ask is because I remember my parents getting pissed off by a car alarm going off outside, it was only after a couple of nights they realised it was their car.

Mine used to randomly do that, it took months of going backwards and forwards to the garage for the problem to be solved. I used to have to leave it unlocked overnight to prevent it. Speak to your neighbour, they should be able to reassure you it is being investigated.

Thank you for replying to my post, it’s very boring 😂

I can only assume they know because it’s so loud, and is stopped eventually after not very long so I have been assuming they’re stopping it.

DH thinks it’s rude to speak to them as they must be aware of the problem and as @bloodywhitecat said it might not be an easy fix. Infuriating that it’s only in the night though, I WFH and it hasn’t gone off once during the day all week.

@Dotjones thats quite funny! I did say to DH imagine me being so wound up and it turns out to be our car (it’s definitely the neighbour’s car as its lights are flashing each time it happens).
