Aibu to buy a refurbished dyson air wrap?

hello
im wondering whether to get a refurbished dyson air wrap. I’ve heard these are ones that have been tried out and returned by people not liking them so are pretty much brand new is this right? Has anyone bought one of these?

I suppose a more general question too would be is the air wrap whether refurbished or brand new actually worth it?

I have straight shoulder length and whilst I don’t like it curly per se I do use rollers to give it some body and flicks at the end

thank you so much! 😊

What is the saving like, versus a new one?

ScarlettDarling · 17/08/2022 12:23

I did wonder what happened to the ones which get returned! When you buy an air wrap brand new you can return it within 3 months I think if you don’t like it. If these are sold as refurbished then yes, they are pretty much brand new.How much cheaper is it to buy refurbished?
I definitely don’t think they’re worth the money and the curls don’t even last half an hour but the smoothing dryer is quite good.

What’s the price difference?

LordEmsworth · 17/08/2022 12:25

I love mine so I think they are worth it. You will get varying opinions on the Style and Beauty board where the Air Wrap love/hate dynamic is strong.

I can't work out what would be unreasonable about buying something you want though? If no one else is going to suffer then - crack on?

If it's from Dyson then it should be fine,
We've bought refurbished vacuums from them and they are literally like new, they are very thorough with checking and cleaning them. A hair wrap is likely to have only been tried out or had very light use too.
As others have said it depends if the saving against brand new is worth it though.

I don't have a refurbished one but I bought mine new. I've had it nearly 2 years and think it's the most amazing thing ever. I have thick, curly, shoulder length hair and can go from wet to straight, blow out hair in 20 mins. Would take me close to an hour before. If mine dies, I will definitely get another, maybe a refurbished one

trevthecat · 17/08/2022 12:38

Also, my curls last till next wash, not as pp said.

Thank you all for the replies

I think a refurbished one is about £379.99 is about £449 so not a huge saving really

Some people don’t get one with them and will have sent them back - mine is loved by both me and my eldest son who uses the brush head attachment on his long fringe so you won’t find it going anywhere and I’m wondering if I can get a secondhand one for him for when he goes to Uni! Are you getting it from Dyson or from EBay or Vinted or somewhere?

LuckySantangelo35 · 17/08/2022 12:47

I would be getting it directly from dyson I think

As long as it comes with a reasonable guarantee period, I think it would be fine to get a refurb. If no guarantee or guarantee v. short, for the difference in price, I would get a new one.

DayYTY · 17/08/2022 13:00

I got a refurbished one, which you wouldn’t have known wasn’t new, but I’m not sure if it means that you don’t have the option to return it if you don’t like it.

I really like mine, I bought it for the curler function but haven’t got around to trying that yet so just use it with the smoothing attachment as a drying brush, which leaves my wavy pouffy hair smooth and straight.

ouch321 · 17/08/2022 13:11

I have the Shark anti hair wrap cordless which is fab and was less than that brand new.

Dyson is like Apple
You pay for the prestige of the brand name

ouch321 · 17/08/2022 13:12

Sorry ignore I thought you wrote "hair wrap" and were taking about vacuums.

didldidi · 17/08/2022 13:38

I bought a refurbished one from Dyson, not that I would have known - it looked brand new. I love it, I have shoulder length thick hair
