Am I expecting too much from DH?

Caveat this by saying he has not indicated in any way that he is not happy.

I am 10 weeks pregnant and have become so unmotivated. Feel sick and basically like shit and I’m not sleeping.

DH brings me breakfast each morning, is doing all the chores and cooks and clears away every night when he gets home from work. While I just lie on the sofa.

I go to bed at 9/9.30 each night and basically just feel like rubbish company and like I’m not pulling my weight. He’s very supportive and seems happy but am I just being dramatic and most women get on with life chores?

First trimester is shit. Enjoy him looking after you. With the second baby you don’t get any of this!

SparklyAntlers · 16/08/2022 22:47

If you don't need to be up and doing things - and he's happy to take the slack - then rest and try to listen to your body. The first trimester can be hell, you aren't being dramatic! I found at 14 weeks I felt human again. You'll more than make up for it at the end of the 9 months 😆

I just lay in bed while I was brought toast. At least you're on the sofa! No chance of this with no2 tho so best enjoy it while you can 😂 remember he feels fine the bastard!

Thank you!

vote is leaning towards me being unreasonable😁

I do obviously work full time and we have a cleaner so he’s not Cinderella but still feel bad!

It will pass, make the most of it!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I'm just shy of 7 weeks and feel shit allllll the time. My DH has been amazing. The first trimester is the hardest. It gets easier I promise.

God I felt terrible in the first trimester like being low level ill. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Peashoots · 16/08/2022 23:11

People voting YABU will be those who have never been pregnant or who have sailed through their pregnancy without a whiff of nausea. I used to be one of those people 😂 then I had hyperemesis gravidarum with my third. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Totally debilitating I physically couldn’t function. Was given cyclizine time help with the sickness-it totally knocked me out, so when I wasn’t vomiting I was sleeping.
I really hope you’re feeling better soon. I’m glad your partner is so understanding and supportive and lovely.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 16/08/2022 23:11

The voting isn’t very clear; all the written replies are saying you’re fine so it’s strange the vote says YABU. I assume those saying YABU mean, ‘You are being unreasonable to think you are expecting too much of your DP’ rather than ‘YABU to have DP look after you.’
