People giving away animals as free on social media

Does anybody else think this is quite cruel? I also worry about them getting into the wrong hands.

I saw somebody else on Preloved trying to sell 2 adult cats and 2 kittens for a total of £320 and that they needed to go asap as they were going on holiday!

I see this so often on social media and selling sites, people giving away/selling animals because they’re having a child/changed job/moving house etc.

I think it’s very sad and it’s a shame there aren’t proper rules about how animals are bred/kept/sold/acquired.

Just wondering how this is any different to the traditional "Free to a good home" way of finding homes for unwanted kittens or puppies

Of course it is sad the animals are in this situation but if someone is offering them for free then they are not trying to exploit them for a profit. How is it different to sending them to a shelter to be rehomed?

It's very different to sending them to a shelter, who'll do home etc checks. There are people involved in dog fighting who are on constant watch for free and cheap animals. Black and white kittens are the most popular 'training' animals for dog fights, then black/white dogs. How do you not see the difference?
