To feel really proud of myself

I'm 30 and a single mum, my children are 8 and 3. I spent my 20's raising 2 children alone and haven't really had the time or money to do anything for myself. I've never travelled alone before. There is a gig I really want to go to in Glasgow in December (I live in Devon) and I've just taken the plunge tonight and booked tickets to attend the gig by myself. I will be flying solo and staying in a hotel overnight. It probably sounds like absolutely nothing to some, but massive to me. I'm really excited. And grateful to my mum for babysitting and allowing me the opportunity to do this :-)

Good for you! I remember traveling solo around that age (but pre kids) and it's really liberating.

ooo saw him at Nocturn at Blenheim Palace years ago before he was as famous as now, good sound

Moonface123 · 15/08/2022 22:23

It gives you a boost to have something nice to look forward to, you really deserve it.

RumbleStrutt · 15/08/2022 22:26

Good for you OP 👍

When I used to travel a lot solo (albeit for work) I enjoyed all the little things. A nice coffee and mooch at the airport. Not stressing everyone had their luggage and passports, it was just me, such calm. Having a drink on the flight and rbi f the solo traveller m. Checking in and arranging the room by myself. Enjoy all those things just as much as the gig - you deserve it.

JDI92 · 15/08/2022 22:40

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited. I've been a fan since I was about 16 and really love his new album. A bit nervous about navigating the airport by myself though!
