Have you done anything kinda weird to keep cool in this heat?

I was just wondering if it was just me!

Last night was so hot, it was a contender for the hottest night of the year and we live in a new build which retains heat and my bedroom was 33 degrees last night.

We can't open the windows as we have indoor cats (ragdolls so actually can't go out) so we have to make do.

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and oh my goodness It was hot so I tried having the fan on but it just blew out hot air, tried having a handheld fan but couldn't keep it up right so I got a bottle of pop from the fridge to hold against me but it got warm pretty quickly and what I ended up doing was getting an unopened packet of sweetcorn from the freezer, wrapping it up in a thin t shirt and sleeping with it and I've got to be honest it actually worked Grin felt like a weirdo this morning though!

So was just wondering if anyone did anything else that's kinda weird - light hearted thread of course!

I have really thick hair so feel all the heat on my head. I wet a cotton scarf and wrapped my hair up in a turban, worked a treat!

Cold water in a hot water bottle

Feet in a bowl of cold water

Showers and leave your hair wet- I had 3 yesterday 🤣

Sleep under a damp sheet- sounds awful buy cools you down immediately.

Damp towel/sheet on freezer for a few hours and then using as my sheet at bedtime. Both me and Dd did this. I sometimes have a small one laid on my head too.

Got some flexible ice sheets with shopping the other day and refrozen them. Both me and Dd slept with one last night.

Cool shower before bed

Cold water in feel and wrists before bed

I love warm weather during the day and evening, but long for a cold air conditioned room at night.

We kept the ice pack from the gousto delivery, refroze them, and used them as cold hot-water-bottles to sleep with.

I also lined the inside of the windows with left over silver insulation roll. Made such a huge difference, especially in the bedrooms.

I have several tea towels that I soak in cold water and then put them in the freezer for half an hour. Once frozen, I put one around my neck and another on top of my head. Works a treat at cooling me down! Also a progressively cold shower: not too cold at first! I then stand in front of a fan dripping wet. Deliciously cooling!Smile

It’s all about the wet tea towel - works a treat twinned with a fan

Large damp muslin and fan. Works a treat!

Not me, but my friend went into her kitchen at the weekend to find her four-year-old, in nothing but his pants, standing with his bum in the open fridge. He'd been complaining about being too hot all day and that was his last resort, apparently.
