Sarah Everard Vigil - Have the CPS taken their time?

Is it unreasonable to think the CPS took a bit too long in stopping the Met continuing with their witch hunt legal action against the 6 protestors?

It was clearly never in the public interest to prosecute and criminalise the 6 protestors at the vigil, so why did it take so long for the CPS to halt the Met's actions? The Met have wasted tax payers money and clogged up the Courts for no good reason.

Yes, but you see women need to know if they stand up there will be consequences!! Otherwise we might think we have the right to protest the police taking us off the streets to murder…. And the met can’t have that!

SpinCityBlues · 14/08/2022 08:24

Maybe didn’t want some stuff to come out in future court cases? Political pressure?

The Met is embarrassingly incompetent so probably took forever to hand over the intel that informed the CPS / political decisions. (The Met absolutely knew about the planned attendance by aggressive males identifying as whatever.)

Or they are all just crap. That Max Hill - he’s interesting and not necessarily in a good way.

SpinCityBlues · 14/08/2022 08:26

And as for those secret hearings aka ‘single justice procedures’ (?) that one of the women said she didn’t even know had happened, wtf??

Call ourselves a democracy?

RedWingBoots · 14/08/2022 12:05

@SpinCityBlues I think one of the women was abroad at the time she was summoned to attend magistrates court and the police didn't keep her informed.

Finally !

What on earth were the Met thinking of? Football fans were allowed to mass outside stadia but women mourning a murder victim were to be prosecuted.

What part of discriminatory, misogynistic and not in the public interest did the Met not get?

By carrying on with this, all they did was demonstrate their own entrenched bigotry. Thank goodness the CPS has intervened.

I hope Mark Rowley is paying attention !
