To ask about international assignments?

I name changed for this as a bit outing. I may have an opportunity to move to Germany for 2 years for international assignment (full package to be agreed). I have a DH and 3 year old DD that would have to go with me.
i love the idea, and I spent a year in Germany before (different place) but the practicalities of it overwhelm me a little.
i have seen people on here mentioning relocating for work, so i would be grateful for any tips and advice. What do i need to consider? What to ask for? How do i even begin to pack my life here and move.
we own our house with mortgage if that’s relevant.
my daughter and i have EU passport, my husband doesn’t

You might want to ask for this to be moved to the living overseas section as there will plenty of people there that will have done exactly this. I moved to Germany 23 years ago and never regretted it 😊 but at the time was fresh out of uni, moving alone for a new job so very different circumstances.

I would guess you should ask for a relocation expert to help with all the formalities (even as EU citizens you and your DC will need to register with local authorities, get tax numbers, Kindergarten place etc) especially re your DH as depending on where you are going, the wait times for appointments with the Ausländerbehörden for visas etc ere extremely long. Again depending on location you'll need help finding accommodation, rents are steadily increasing and demand is very high in large cities like Frankfurt, Berlin & Munich. I would definitely try and get a few months rent and the deposit (which is 3 months rent) covered by the company.

Are they moving you to a local contract or will you stay on UK contract? How will that affect tax status, holiday, health insurance etc?
