What had happened to the skill of debating without resorting to insults.
I have been on Facebook talking about the sad Archie Battersbee story. Because I didn’t agree with a couple of other posters I have been told I’m fat, ugly, wonky-eyed, old and have a face full of thread veins!
Ok I’m nearly 60 and not as attractive as I was but hey ho, it still seems a little harsh. 😆.
I just don’t understand the need to comment on someone’s looks, they’re irrelevant and I never and never will do that to anyone.
Just wanted to get it off my chest!

@Helendee I agree with you. I am amazed how nasty people can be on Facebook. I have a caravan and we go away often, on caravan sites nearly everone is friendly and cheerful but on the Facebook caravan pages people are nasty and vindictive.

Why can't people be nice or simply scroll on past?

Because they're pathetic little wankers hiding behind a screen.

I'm sorry to say but I wouldn't put it past people on MN to behave exactly the same. You only have to look at a couple of the recent threads to see what I mean.

I am unfailingly polite to people and won’t lower myself to respond in kind but it’s actually very worrying to think that many people seem to harbour so much anger and hatred.
A few years ago some young children suddenly ran out in front of our car, my husband luckily braked immediately and no harm done but the father came charging out, threatening my poor DH and when I explained what had happened and told him he should have had better control of his children he called me a fat c* and spat in my face… what a charmer.
I hate how we are these days.
