How common are or were single dads and an observation

I was brought up solely by my dad. Mum was around but did not bring me up.

So I spent 18 years with a man and he was my sole influence of a parent.

I've been told many times through life that I'm "like a man" in the way I speak to the opposite sex, and my husband has said I'm like a man in my mannerisms and attitudes. It can be silly things like I don't like to cuddle and he does (funnily enough he was brought up by a single mum and is very much like her)

I wonder whether being brought up by a man has made me..... well I don't know but anyone else been brought up by a single dad?

I've never met another person brought up by a single dad, that I know of.

I was brought up by a single dad too and I'd say the most noticeable thing was a lack of 'soft skills' as men tend to be more direct. I hope that general life is easier for single dads with daughters now and that other parents are more kind and inclusive

Yes. Me too, blunt and lacking tact unfortunately. It was difficult, he said he would change my nappy on shop floors when denied access to the baby change.... he is a very belligerent man though so likely not in the right on that one.
