I took an item back to a shop after using Apple Pay. I wanted an exchange but due to the shops system needed to get a refund and then buy the new item.
I tapped my watch to get a refund via Apple Pay but the system requested that the sales assist check my card as the last 4 digits didn’t match. When paying by AP you don’t get the last four digits of the card on your receipt you get your apple device numbers. As the numbers didn’t match the sales assistant stated that my card was being used fraudulently or had been cloned so refused to refund. After showing her the numbers matched in my Apple wallet and showing her my online banking detailing the purchase she still refused. I even offered to buy the item to show the numbers would match the initial receipt but the sales assistant refused!
I was told to come back in a couple of days when the manager will be in.
I left feeling like a criminal!
