Children screaming

All afternoon I have listened to the girl and three friends across the road screaming in the top of their voices. They are prob about 8 years old. I don’t mind listening to kids play as I have two myself and they play in the garden, but there is no way I’d let them scream and scream like that. Loud ear Pearcing screeching. I actually went out to the shops because I was fed up listening. Even my daughter who’s 10 says it’s annoying.

you must live near me. There is a screecher who has been at it all day. Am tempted to put Madame Butterfly on very loudly near the fence. Might even put it on a loop.

Gardeningismythingwithawine · 12/08/2022 18:32

Just posting to have a moan, as I would never say to them.Peri menopause and extremely crabit!

I cant cope with screeching and screaming. I visibly wince.

Gardeningismythingwithawine · 12/08/2022 18:35

Mrsherdwick
oh it’s annoying isn’t it. I feel for the guy next door as he’s on night shift. Obviously you expect noise during a sunny afternoon in the school holidays, but this is ridiculous.

My neighbours' kids too. I wouldn't complain, but the elderly couple in the other side do and I wonder if the mum encourages them to be noisy to wind the old couple up (she's like that - loves the drama).
Thankfully they went away for a fortnight yesterday - bliss!

My girls scream. They are 3 and 5. I am constantly bringing them back in. I feel like I'm always apologising to my neighbours who don't actually seem that bothered. But I can't stand screaming. I have tried everything to stop them. So now I just bring them in every time. I. Hoping they will grow out of it soon. Their brothers aged 7 and 9 are constantly telling them to stop too. It makes me quite crabby and I feel like I can't enjoy them as the slightest grump upset or argument one of them will scream the others name. Ergh. So inside we go straight away!

Smogtopia · 12/08/2022 18:47

I hate screaming kids. Thanks to PP who tries their best to manage it as the majority of parents with screamers don't give a shit

TheLostNights · 12/08/2022 18:50

My neighbours kids are like this. Literally go into the garden and scream and shriek to one another. The parents are either indoors or just sitting there watching them. It is bizarre and so selfish.

boingy · 12/08/2022 18:51

Sounds like you live near me.
My kids have been in the paddling pool today and it's been constant screeching, screaming and general noise all day.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 12/08/2022 19:06

I take the dc and raise you grown ups.
Screaming daily opposite my home from 6 and until after 9 am at the least. Sometimes 10 am.

Sobaridiot · 12/08/2022 19:09

Better than listening to your neighbour screaming multiple times a night while you're trying to sleep thanks to her new boyfriend. And when you address the noise with her she thinks its hilarious and starts boasting about how good he is. 😡🤬😡

x2boys · 12/08/2022 19:17

My severely autistic child screams loudly and frequently too ,it annoys me too but there is nothing I can do about it I think he just likes the sound 🙉

Ylvamoon · 12/08/2022 19:19

😁 my DC had a phase screaming singing "Let it go" extra loud on loop in the garden. I think some of the neighbours moved house!

huuskymam · 12/08/2022 19:22

The kids next door to me are the same, lots of high pitched screeching going on between 4 girls. While it does annoy me, come October they'll all be hibernating for the winter (that's the usual around here) so I just grin and bear it.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 12/08/2022 19:25

It would massively annoy me…..
AND….

my 6 year old is a screamer. No idea why but her play/games always resort in her being very vocal. She has quite a loud voice too.

like you say a rant is good. Probably just put up with it if it’s a one off though.

BEAM123 · 12/08/2022 19:28

You must live near me, someone nearby has a girl who is a high pitched screamer when she plays. No idea how the parents cope with it but I guess that's why she plays outside not inside! Gets a bit much when working though and I usually close the windows at school home time.

My three children aged 4-8 are absolutely wild. Lots of bellowing / singing / laughing / fake American accent gibberish as well as role play / lots of free play / paddling pool anarchy / dancing and of course fall outs

I would say one average I have to bring them in at least twice and hour to calm down and try to show my neighbours I am not some sort of arsehole parent. Bribery in the form of tablet time with a side serving of solero, Doritos an apple (yes they are part healthy) and some chocolate biscuits.

am seriously considering buying some of these noise flair ear defenders.

I agree!
The hot weather makes them go all swallows and amazons

Spanielsarepainless · 12/08/2022 19:40

Round here the buggers are encouraged by adults. It's utterly unnecessary and infuriating. Thank you to PPs that try to keep things a bit more peaceful.

x2boys · 12/08/2022 19:47

But as irritating as screaming is we are in the middle of the summer holidays it's ridiculously fucking hot unless you live in the middle if nowhere everyone's frazzled I feel l like screaming too.

Tourmalines · 01/06/2023 03:53

Yes, it’s so irritating. It’s a learnt behaviour by the kids . They like the sound of their own voice and if they get away with it , they will keep doing it !!
