"dirty and evil".

Liz Truss has defended earnings at energy companies, saying their profits are not "dirty and evil".
Those profits were not made by any extra work, skill or diligence, just on the back of soaring energy prices. They will hurt ordinary people however, or the companies could reduce their profits and help out ordinary people.
Am I being unreasonable to think that rampant profiteering in an economic crisis will inevitably lead to deaths, and is literally "dirty and evil"?
YABU - profit is what makes economies work
YANBU - unrestricted profiteering in an economic crisis is literally evil.

often prices are not dictated by changes in skill or diligence but on the market. Why would a supplier sell something for below market value if someone else would pay more for it?

That said - perhaps there are reasons - like the cost in changing supply chains and routes. Eg the regular weekly delivery of the good may cost too much to change to make up for the additional profit to be made by selling it to a new customer.

right now there is a reduction of supply due to ukraine war and increased demand in Asia and maybe due to pandemic restrictions ending. So not a surprise prices are going to up. Why would energy companies want to sell to U.K. rather than other countries if prices are capped? Not sure what the solution is.

Tory in defending despicable practices shocker.

Labour should put this line on future leaflets.

I don't know why Truss bothers with this - even tory members will be concerned at £5k energy bills and she will absolutely u-turn when the time comes.

Easy to forget how low the oil price went during covid, they couldn't give the stuff away, it's swings and roundabouts
