TTC after stopping breastfeeding - any wise old owls out there?

Hi everyone,

Posting shamelessly for traffic as I never seem to get any responses anywhere else!

Been posting a bit recently as I've just had my second early loss in 3 months - third overall.

For context I was breastfeeding my toddler until about a month ago. I had just stopped feeding and we conceived a week later this time so I guess it was just too soon and my cycle/hormones hadn't sorted themselves out.

I've had a 9 day luteal phase last few cycles so hopeful that completely stopping feeding will lengthen this.

Does anyone have any experience of how long it takes for LP to lengthen/cycles to regulate after completely stopping BF?

Also, what do I need to do to cover all bases in terms of supplements/diet/basically making sure we are as fertile as possible? We seem to have no issue conceiving but I think another miscarriage would finish me off to be honest so want to ensure we are doing all we can.

We plan to now take a break for 3 cycles to allow my body time to sort itself out (though I am 34 so this makes me very nervous) but I think another loss would just set us back more.

Any experience of this anyone please give me your tips and stories!

I have this fear that I'll just keep having miscarriages and my luteal phase will not lengthen and I'm never going to have a brother or sister for my baby as I'm getting too old. All crazy I know but helps to write it down!

Thank you x

I swore by B6 for hormone balance. I had a 9 day luteal phase too and started B6 and conceived the next cycle, healthy pregnancy.

I am sorry for your losses. As you know, early losses are very common and could be entirely coincidental/ not related to breastfeeding - although that doesn't make it easier with TTC.

I BF DD untill she was almost 2.5. I stopped as we wanted to TTC and I didn't want her BFing while pregnant/ with a new baby. I did have a short luteal phase afterwards, but wonder if I did before too and just didn't really realise. I think it got a little longer over the 6 months we (half heartedly - making some efforts but no Ov tracking etc) were TTC, but it was still around the 10-11 days when I fell pregant with DS. He is 5 now and my luteal phase is still around 10 days.
