AIBU to say to my friends while we were discussing this that I wouldn’t call the police if I saw them? I think it’s a bit fishy that there is a police hunt for a child who is away visiting this dad with their mum

My friends disagreed with me but I remember that post of the woman on the run with her child from abuse and that’s how they were found so I am always so skeptical on these things but I wouldn’t say anything still AIBU?

The police are concerned for the child’s welfare. Why would you not call them if you saw him 🤷🏼‍♀️

It really isn't your job to judge. That's why we have law enforcement. I read rumours under an article last night but whether or not it's true I don't know. The police will be in possession of the facts.

I was presuming that the child is not supposed to be in his parents' custody and has been reported missing by foster carer/other family.
Yes YABU not to call the police if you see a missing person.

Well, yes, of course you're being unreasonable to not report if you saw them. You must see that?

As for "something fishy going on", well, not really.

The police have said they have concerns for his welfare. That's really all they need to say right now.
