We've organised to have our cars washed at our office on a monthly basis. Our Facebook post had about 12 businesses interested and we offered it to the first person as their prices were reasonable.

We can't fault the cleanliness of the cars but we have an issue with the owner as his BO is horrendous. The people who had their cars washed after lunch mentioned to me their cars smelt... they did. He also left a lingering smell in the reception area!

AIBU to change companies? It's been 3 consecutive occasions and it's really not pleasant. I don't know how you politely tell someone they smell Blush

Gosh did you not meet him before offering the contract? anyway how about saying you have to cancel it because it doesn't feel right to you having cars washed when there is a water shortage? Give it a month or so and contact someone else....and MEET them this time!

Has he only started since the hot weather?
Maybe he won't smell when the weather gets colder.

@godmum56 nope, just went based off recommendations. I didn't think to meet first to be honest!

@boingy yes but turning up at 10am smelling isn't because of the sun, it's a lack of personal hygiene.

Well, no, not necessarily. He could have a medical condition which leads to body odour and/or sweating.

You also don't know what time he has to start his day in the morning. Your work day may start at 9am, his may begin much earlier.

It would be wrong to charge the company, IMO, but I would look to use a different firm going forward. Failing that, a conversation or letter written every bit as sensitively as if he were a member of your team, would be the way forward.
