Would you complain to Airbnb ?

We are in a villa in Crete and some really loud road work has been taking place. We can’t relax in the house or outside, it’s so loud. I have paid a lots of money for a villa in a supposedly quiet village in the middle of nowhere. I’m so upset, would you complain ?

Only if you can show that they must have known about it. Is it possible it is unplanned/emergency? If it is clearly long term work and you can show they must have known, then of course you must complain!

I agree with @BogdashinaO - it’s not the owners fault if they new nothing about it. It’s still crap but it’s no one’s fault in that case.

Wow my grammatical errors in that last post are embarrassing- owner’s knew

If it was work on the villa I’d agree but I’d imagine the owners wouldn’t know about every bit of roadworks - I never know what’s going on in my area and where I live is only a few miles from a tourist hotspot.

It’s probably something the owners didn’t know about, however, it’s still worth speaking to Airbnb as we went through something similar in Canada. Airbnb booked us a hotel for a night and sent us loads of links for other Airbnb’s and reimbursed us for our few nights of hell at our initial property. Hope you get sorted. FYI, we sent their support photos of the roadworks and recordings of the noise by using our phones to record it. Good luck!

I wouldn't complain.
They can't do much about road works.

Airbnbdisaster · 09/08/2022 12:18

I took some videos and pictures, to be honest I feel worst for the poor people that will come after us I hope the Airbnb owner will let them know about the work. He didn’t know it was going to take place so yes I won’t complain, just feeling sad about it !

There's an Airbnb three doors down from us in a usually quiet cul-de-sac in Wales. The top house has builders in making a racket, behind us builders are renovating a big house. It's a loud din from early morning. I happen to know the owner of the Airbnb lives three miles away and is abroad anyway just now. It's summer building works at their peak
