How to get electrician to come back?

We have a shed in our garden. I have been saving up money to turn it into an office as I work from home (in the bedroom.) We have two toddlers and I find it so hard to do any work.

Anyway - finally saved enough money to get an electrician to run electrics and a wifi cable from our house to the shed. The sockets work fine but the internet doesn't. I'm trying to fix it myself but DH says the electrician has done it wrong.

Now electrician (who was jolly nice and yes I've paid him already because I'm an idiot) is ignoring me. Not picking up calls or answering emails. I paid extra to do the internet and he said it was working fine. I should have tested myself.

I really really need this office to work. I'm going mad with the kids coming in the bedroom every 2 mins. DH says I can't pay someone else to come fix it.

How do I get electrician to come back???

We’ve just been through similar. Unfortunately the answer for us was to go to another electrician.

Install some spy cameras and leave the house for a few hours ...

I kid.

In all seriousness, I installed a cable from my house to my outside office not too long ago. You can probably fix the issue yourself if you have some wire cutters and can work out a cat-5/cat-6 wire diagram.

What's the issue exactly? The cable is plugged into your router in your house, then the cable runs outside to your office? Does the cable plug into an extender or access point, or straight into your pc/laptop? What sort of cable did the electrician use? It should be printed on the sheath.

call him from another mobile number, leave voicemail saying you have a big job for him, when he rings back say ‘it’s me, I’m wondering when you’re going to come back to sort the WiFi out.’ Worked for an errant painter.

Yeah I would just fix myself. What’s the issue? Did he run a long pre-made Ethernet cable or has he ran a cable and fitted off wall ports at each end? What are you connecting? Your laptop directly to the cable going back to your router or are you plugging a wireless router in to the cable to give you wifi in the shed? You should be able to reterminate the cable yourself if you have a look online. It will probably be faster.
