How much were your braces?

Apparently I’m being conned.. I’ve gone private and I’m getting ceramic wired braces. Everything including appointments, retainer after, wire at the back of my teeth etc is costing £5k… am I?! I’ve gone for braces rather than Invisalign as my overbite needs correcting. Treatment should be around a year.

Overbites can be corrected with Invisalign...

Discovereads · 08/08/2022 14:36

It’s always a good idea to visit several and get at least three quotes. Good too to read reviews and such.

My DCs braces were £7 but that was on the NHS

Wheelyweddingwipedout · 08/08/2022 14:41

I’m 13 months into treatment with fixed braces and the whole package is £5k. I have multiple dental problems which Were not suitable for Invisalign.

my treatment has been excellent.

My braces were £4000, I had them for 2 years back in 2017. Used a highly recommended orthodontist.

Best thing I've ever done!

petshopboys · 08/08/2022 15:16

Mine were free on the NHS but I had very crooked teeth and I think I was referred by the dentist. The only thing that has cost was when my permanent retainer broke off my teeth and they charged me £50 to remove it. I went to this orthodontist (www.overleighorthodontics.com/private/fees/) if you want to compare prices.

Twizbe · 08/08/2022 15:22

My fixed brace including teeth removal, retainer and fixed retainer was about £4.5k and that was in London.

Tbh, best money I've ever spent and wish I'd done it sooner

LoveBugBride · 08/08/2022 15:37

Depending how bad your overbite is you may qualify for NHS treatment.

I had mine corrected by fixed braces and double jaw surgery 3 years ago.

Newinmarch22 · 08/08/2022 15:38

My Invisalign package was just under £5k including all hygenist visits beforehand, teeth whitening and three sets of retainers which should hopefully last 10+ years, that was in 2020. Took just over a year and worth every penny!
Good luck

AnnaBanana99 · 08/08/2022 18:20

I don’t think you’re being conned. I am mid way through a very similar package of treatment and it was the same price. Private adult dental work is expensive, unfortunately!

I8toys · 08/08/2022 18:36

£4k invisalign. No regrets

ohblowmedown · 08/08/2022 19:16

DS had standard wired braces a couple of years ago for 2k

needthezzzzz · 08/08/2022 19:25

I've had Invisalign on top teeth only for £3k.

Jarstastic · 08/08/2022 21:33

I spent about £4.5k fifteen years ago. Excluding any retainers they were on top I still have the same bonded retainers though they’ve had a couple of fixes. Top central London orthodontist but it was quite a while ago.

Dobbyismyabsolutefav · 08/08/2022 22:29

I spent £4K on my DD's braces 5 years ago and we are in the SE.

Minecraftatemychild · 08/08/2022 22:34

£4k a few years back. Ugly metal train tracks. £5k for ceramic is a good price.
