To ask for petrol contribution?

I’ve been giving a colleague a lift into work since the bus strikes have been on (going into third week now). She offered money towards petrol the first week but I said it was ok because I thought it was only going to be for a few days.

Its 20 minutes out of my way to pick her up, so an extra 40 minutes each journey for me. It’s really starting to add up for me now paying for the extra petrol. She didn’t offer any money last week, so I presume she still thinks I’ll cover the costs. Would I be unreasonable to ask her to pay for the petrol this week? Should I ask her to cover all the cost or half?

Ask for the money, you're doing 40 minutes of extra driving a day. If she lived on your street I wouldn't ask for money but she's being cheeky to accept this without paying you petrol.

Ask her to cover all the extra cost.

I'm sure she'll be happier paying her way.

She should cover the additional distance you are doing to get her and half the petrol of the usual trip to to work, so the 20 mins to get her, 20 mins to get back to the route to work and then half of the petrol from that point to work.
