New build snag list

Hello all,

moved into my new build. I’ve got a vast snag list.

A lot are down to the paint work. The paint work is shoddy. Chips, paint bubbles, bumps of paint, wall paint of the gloss paint.

Would it be unreasonable to expect the developers to fix this?

Definitely not. But report it asap as they won’t fix cosmetic stuff later on (or will say it’s due to settling). I was really disappointed with the finish in my new build too.

YANBU. Make a proper list on a spreadsheet/table and issue it to the developers. I think the rule is that they must repair snags/defects that occur within the first 2 years of a new build completion, worth researching and definitely chase them down.

If I bought another new-build I would get a professional snagging company in to review the entire build. If things like paint are shoddy, good knows what the finish is in the bits which you can't easily see.

Not U at all. Its just part of the process. My new build has millions of things that need fixing, the site manager is fine about it and it's all getting done.

I’ve sent them a documentary listed with images, I’ll get on to them tomorrow about it all

My friend is a surveyor and he’s reviewed everywhere for me. A lot of the issues are cosmetic which I think is due to them rushing at the end to finish

When they come round to touch up Ask them to fill a jam jar of paint for you. Comes in really handy later on if you are still moving furniture about etc and you can touch up any scuffs until you start decorating. I've lived in a couple of new builds and I've found it really handy!
