Is there a coughing/vomiting bug going around?

DD came home from nursery a little warm/tired on Thursday, and woke up vomiting on Thursday night. Kept her off nursery on Friday and she was sick once in the morning, but nothing since. However it seems to have coincided or turned into quite a phlegmy cough, which is unusual for a vomiting bug. Does anyone else have this?

It sounds like covid. Often presents with vomiting in kids.

Sunnyqueen · 07/08/2022 20:09

Yes a few kids I know including my own have had it, seems to be only be affecting kids though.

SirVixofVixHall · 07/08/2022 20:10

Small children I know who’ve had Covid have had vomiting too.

Sartre · 07/08/2022 20:10

Covid as others have said, vomiting is a common side effect especially in children.

We've had a horrible phlegmy cough for nearly a month. Its horrible.

Camomila · 07/08/2022 20:13

Could it be the phlegm/coughing that made her throw up?

DS2 (2) often throws up when he has a cough/cold as I guess the snot/phlegm goes down into his throat.

ohblowmedown · 07/08/2022 20:13

DH has had a phlegmy cough for a couple of weeks, negative for covid so must be other bugs doing the rounds.

Tilda77 · 07/08/2022 20:14

My sister and her household have a nasty cough and cold. They've tested for covid which came back negative. She said she feels worse than when she had covid.

SushiSuave · 07/08/2022 20:15

Sorry OP but unless you're going to say where you live, what on earth is the point of this thread? Are you asking if there is a bug going round the whole country? Other than Covid I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Such an odd question.

We've had this bug. Sick for 2 days then diarrhoea for 5. All alongside the cough. Cough definitely wasn't causing the vomiting.

Wouldloveanother · 07/08/2022 20:30

Thanks ladies. We all had COVID a couple of months back but I guess it wouldn’t be a huge shock if we have it again. Bleurghhhh. 4 weeks pregnant so hoping not…

DS4 had similar a couple of weeks ago. Really persistent cough for a few days... Then was coughing in the night and then was sick twice. Originally thought it was the cough that had made him sick, though he'd never had this before (unlike his older sister who from about age 2-5 used to vomit whenever she had a cough at night! 🥴). But then he was complaining of stomach ache and was sick again in morning without coughing.

Touch wood that was it and none of the rest of us got it.. So don't know whether it was a random cough plus stomach bug or weird combination but nothing surprises me with nursery bugs any more 🤣

Also Covid test was negative (and he'd had it at Easter) 🤷‍♀️

Wouldloveanother · 07/08/2022 20:57

Poor kid @Chasingrainbows16 sounds exactly like DD - it’s an unusual combination so wasn’t sure if it was 2 bugs, but seems like a ‘thing’ doing the rounds!

Meeee! DS got a sickness bug that’s done the rounds with our family this week. I got it last and it’s turned into the most crazily heavily phlemy cough / cold thing, with a fever that keeps returning. Toddler DD is a bit like that after her sickness too. Although DS and DH only had the sickness. I’d presumed it was two separate viruses converged but maybe not. Not Covid, multiple negative tests between DH and I.

My 3 year old is the same coughing and been sick for well over a month I’m starting to get worried also not eating
