Is this normal?

Last weekend I went away with friends for a long weekend and it was quite full on with shopping, sightseeing, travelling etc.
Since then I have felt so exhausted I don't have any energy to do anything, even going to work was a struggle. I have had headache and felt cold as if I was coming down with something but then felt ok the next day.
This weekend I haven't done too much in the hope that I will get more energy, just relaxed in the garden and pottered around.
AIBU to think surely it's not normal to feel so exhausted after a weekend away?

Maybe you caught a bug/Covid while you were away?

@Camomila possibly, I keep thinking that I have just adapted to a lazy chilled lifestyle during lockdowns and now have no energy.
This was my first weekend away since 2019 so I'm out or practise

I'm always knackered after jam packed weekends but you also could have picked up a virus

Ontomatopea · 07/08/2022 19:14

Could have a viral thing. Could just be age and you've done looooads in a very stimulating environment

I am in London for a six day break…..today is day three and I feel shattered. It is not just the physical activity but also the strangeness of surrounding, being sociable and sleeping in a different (less comfortable) bed. I think we underestimated the impact of it all. So I quite understand OP. Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like you picked a virus up, and that combined with the busy weekend has floored you.

Sunnyqueen · 07/08/2022 19:39

Have you done a covid test? If not could just be general exhaustion. Typically takes me 2 days to recover physically and emotionally/socially from 1 day out these days.

@Sunnyqueen yes done a covid test and it was negative.
I had cancer during covid and it feels like my life is always going to be exhausting now and I won't be able to do as much as before.

Sounds fairly normal; if you’ve not had a full-on weekend of non-stop activity for a long time, it definitely is a bit knackering. And from what you’ve said there’s a good chance you’ve got or have had a mild virus or something, whether it’s Covid or something else, and are just a bit run down.
