Paying friend for driving

Every 6 months or so I have a medical appointment in a city roughly 50 miles away. A friend offered to drive me a few years ago and it has become a regular thing between us. I normally gave her £40 which after refusing & me insisting she eventually takes. I also normally treat her to coffee at the hospital.
With the cost of fuel going up is £50 more appropriate for 100 mile round trip?
Thanks for advice in advance.

40 would be ample for my car. Sounds like you and your friend have a fair agreement, good friends!

£40 stills sounds fine. You are one of life’s good eggs OP, and so is your friend.

You can calculate fuel cost on the rac fuel calculator, using her mpg and fuel cost and the journey details.
