Cervical smear- thinking the worst.

I had CIN 3 with hpv 11 years ago. Had lletz treatment for it - all good outcomes and been clear ever since.

I am in Scotland. My last smear was Dec 2018. I was due a routine smear again in Dec 21. Ice only just been invited to attend and did so a couple of weeks ago.

The nurse mentioned I had a cervical ectropian. Which is a non-cancerous condition and is very common.

I was fine...until I realised from looking online (foolish I know, but I thought I was just informing myself a bit more about the ectropian). It said that ectropian can mimic the look of early cervical cancer.

I am getting into a state thinking this is it, my days are numbered. My test was 8 months later than it should have been. I should have chased it up and got an appointment sooner. I need to wait 6 weeks for result. I am a bit of a mess. Scared CIN is back and what with the 8 month delay I am scared as I took my eye off the ball.

I know in Scotland it is every 5 year now but that was introduced due to hpv screening in 2020 and I didn't have hpv testing on last smear. Only had it previously when I lived down south.

Can anyone help reassure me please. Sorry for being a bit dramatic.

Cervical ectropian/erosion is a common condition in women, I have been told in the past I have it. It is a harmless condition and is non cancerous. The nurse would definitely be able to tell that this is what it was as opposed to anything sinister.
