So at work . Since the pandemic and we do a few days in the office and a few at home , I feel like people just mindlessly chat absolute shite.

on Wednesday I was in with a lady who felt the need to say something every 5 mins FOR 8 HOURS! Like seriously ! Why can’t you just be quiet . (None was work related)

It may be something to do with I work at home with Children (they don’t) so I don’t feel like I get time to properly concentrate on the job in hand . Which I love too , just get stuck in, and go into my zone without someone constantly wanting to show me crap on their phone of talk utter dribble !

AIBU? Any suggestions without shouting SHUT THE FUCK UP …. Which I was close to the other day , I lasted 8 hours without strangling her, GO ME!

Large pair of headphones

ear plus underneath

anyone interrupts you shake your head and tap them. People soon get used to the idea headphones mean you won’t chat.

🤷‍♀️ you work at home with kids, maybe she lives alone and has nobody to expel word vomit into? Not saying you're wrong, but if it bothers you get some soundproof headphones and tell her you're so sorry but got to do a complicated job. She can speak to others then

Yes , probably before the working from home with kids I wouldn’t have minded less , so prob half my problem for sure .
she does live with partner and older kids , but I get the impression she’s not quite listened to at home much , which I know must be pretty crap.
Soon my days from home won’t be with kids so I’ll just stay positive for that , as much as I adore them …. It not been the most productive time.

This is great , I had the image of me wearing those soundproof ones - ear defenders they wear at the airport, and people being like …. “Erm are you ok” …. 🤣
