to ask what you'd do about recycling 'surprise'

Just checked in to holiday home for the week in sunny Sussex. Opened recycling bin to pop in some cardboard to be greeted with just 1 item inside... A used condom.

Now I'm torn between pretending I've not seen it and using the bin as normal, or confronting the host to demand they get rid!

Problem is, if we leave it, I wouldn't want them thinking we put it there!!!

Tell them to get rid.... If I was the hosts I'd want to know as sounds like the cleaner or someone has used it as a bit of a sex den!

I would just get lots of kitchen roll/toilet paper and get rid of it in the normal bin. Job done.

Definitely contact the host, although if the bin has outside access it might not be theirs either

No this isn't nice but as pp says just put on gloves use tissue or a plastic bag to remove and put in the normal bin. Then forget about it and enjoy your hols.

Its a massive over reaction to call the host !

Or didn't empty the bin properly.

It's not pleasant but honestly just bin it and forget about it. Why would you bother giving it any more thought than that?

Oh dont send a photo of a used condom to the letting agent , poor person opening the email didn’t leave it there. Noone deserves that in their inbox unless they are the culprit.

I'm beginning to feel sorry for holiday home owners and their managing agents as I read the replies. It's likely that a previous minging guest left it there. Try not to get too worked up about it and just deal with it.
