People are so rude these days!

Yes, I know that most people are stressed and worried what with Covid, the cost of living crisis and all the shit going on (me too!) and that there have always been some nasty people around BUT there does seem to be an increasingly disproportionate amount of downright rudeness, unpleasantness and entitlement.

It hit home the other day when a usually positive and cheerful colleague who is lovely to everyone she deals with was in tears after being spoken to like a piece of shit by yet another member of the public.

It's not just at work. People in shops etc tutting and moaning and as for the driving! Hearing a horn used to be a rarity and was reserved for when someone did something really stupid or dangerous. These days it's a frequent sound for things as minor as stopping at a junction or traffic light for a split second longer than the stress head behind you feels necessary. Obscenities and hand gestures are often added too!

I know we're all stressed but this attitude really isn't helping. who's with me?

At work we go through social media communications staff every few months because they are so traumatised from dealing with twitter rage and pile-ons. People forget when raging at a corporate twitter account that it is still a human being that is responding. And we are a charity. Must be horrendous to work in customer service in a corporate.

A few weeks ago I experienced road rage so badly from a neighbour I had to report it to the police - my crime was reversing out of my driveway too slowly.

I'm with you. I asked a shop assistant for help. You would think I asked her for her kidney. I thanked her for her assistance and walked off. Neither will I shop there again either.

I've had so many rude emails at work recently where I've been so tempted to reply "oh do fuck off" but of course I don't! And yes, the driving, people are so impatient!
