To wish there was a TV channel just for Aussie dramas?

Having just fell down a rabbit hole on YouTube, it got me thinking how much I’d love a tv channel where Aussie classics could be shown from the beginning.

Obviously Neighbours would be a shoe in, but also The Flying Doctors, The Henderson Kids, definitely A Country Practice and the must be so many more?

Any other suggestions for my fantasy TV channel?

I really liked Brides of Christ, it came out in the early 90's and starred Naomi Watts.
Also yes to The Sullivans and A Country Pratice.

I loved winners and losers so if it had that on it, then I’d definitely want that channel.

Me too, love a good Aussie drama!

There is a new Royal Flying Doctors, Brax from home and away is in it 😊 I enjoyed it, think it was more4.

Also The Newsreader, set in a newsroom in 1980s, he's also in that too, it was very good.

I loved All Saints, A Country Practice, etc back in the day.

But would definitely recommend A Place To Call Home, it was brilliant.

Oh and Five Bedrooms again with Brax from Home and Away.......I swear I do not follow him from TV show to TV show, he just keeps turning up in them 😁

Oh forgot about Brides Of Christ that was great too.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Prisioner. This was the best thing on TV in the 90s, it was on on a Tues and Thursday night and everyone would be talking about what happened in school the next day. They were reruns. Because no-one has suggested it maybe it was just huge in Ireland in the 90s? I'd love to watch it again.

Wentworth had nothing on the original.

Mamai90 · 04/08/2022 03:03

Oops, just saw it was one of the first suggestions 🙈

Kitkatcatflap · 04/08/2022 03:06

Ohh I remember The Sullivans, Young Doctors and Country Practice...... I love a Aussie drama. Will definitely have to look up some of the newer ones on here though

Water Rats, Sea Change.

Turnthatoff · 04/08/2022 05:22

The Thorn Birds, though technically it was American.

IDugAnotherHole · 04/08/2022 06:11

A Town Like Alice was brilliant

AiryFairy1 · 04/08/2022 06:17

Another vote for Home and Away, and Kath and Kim!
Masterchef Australia (the only reality tv show, NO others!)
Under Belly (quite dark/violent, but gripping)

Doorhandleghost · 04/08/2022 06:17

And the Dr Blake Mysteries! I loved that one. Would love to see the Henderson Kids again too.

I remember police rescue, enjoyed that too.

User639921 · 04/08/2022 06:23

Definitely A Place to Call Home, watched it all twice
The Doctor Blake Mysteries
Five Bedrooms

User639921 · 04/08/2022 06:25

Maybe we could also resurrect Skippy

prepared101 · 04/08/2022 06:27

Acorn on Prime has loads of Aus/NZ dramas 😄

balalake · 04/08/2022 07:12

What would you call the channel? Bruce? Sheila?

User639921 · 04/08/2022 07:20

Reelgood and JustWatch websites will tell you where you can watch all of these dramas.

MuffinMcLayLikeABundleOfHay · 04/08/2022 07:24

I've got every episode of Prisoner Cell Block H on DVD.

Lachlan or Lachie would be more like it these days.

User639921 · 04/08/2022 07:27

Bangkok Hilton with Nicole Kidman from 1989 was really good.

MarshaBradyo · 04/08/2022 07:30

We’re watching The Newsreader atm

Well acted etc it’s a current show not old, but it’s really good and a huge trip down memory lane as it’s set during childhood events in 80s

anotherlatte · 04/08/2022 08:34

Loved Flying Doctors.
Also Cop Shop.

I have been watching McLeods Daughters on Amazon prime.

ClaryFairchild · 04/08/2022 11:42

Have any of you tried to access Aussie channels 10, 9 or 7 from the UK? Would they work? They have a lot of stuff that you can stream and watch live.

x2boys · 04/08/2022 11:45

I loved the Aussie drama,s of the 80,s but there only seemed to be about six actors, they were all in the same programmes 🤣
