Am I unreasonable or is this awful. Received invite to a baby shower today and we have to wear pink if we are attending. I’m more of a black is the new black type. Help!

Ffs! It sounds like hell.

kegofcoffee · 03/08/2022 21:26

Ergh. YANBU.

Hotandbothereds · 03/08/2022 21:27

Ugh, no that’s ridiculous, I’d just decline.

I don’t own anything pink & I refuse to buy something just for an event that I’ll never wear again, and it’s just irritating!

Cautiouselectric · 03/08/2022 21:28

Turn it down if you own nothing pink (ie don’t spend money cotta money on it) but otherwise just suck it up. It’s a dumbass party for no real reason. Drink lots of wine, smile a lot, leave, change clothes.

HappyHappyHermit · 03/08/2022 21:29

Ridiculous idea, if you want to go could you just wear a pink bracelet/necklace/socks/hairband etc as a nod to it maybe?

CornishTiger · 03/08/2022 21:29

Thats a no from me

thecatsthecats · 03/08/2022 21:29

Ooooh, oooooh, please go in green.

Pleeeease. I want to know what they'll do.

ariesalien · 03/08/2022 21:30

Maybe I'm the minority but I don't see the big deal with this! Maybe not your ideal, but not a huge deal?

Dartmoorcheffy · 03/08/2022 21:31

I expect its for the Instagram pics.. 🙄🙄🙄

NancyDrooo · 03/08/2022 21:32

Awful. Unless it was a close friend I just wouldn’t attend as I don’t own anything pink. If you absolutely have to go, just chuck on a pink scarf thing.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 03/08/2022 21:32

I’d be busy that day. Doesn’t matter which day it is, I’m busy.

neverbeenskiing · 03/08/2022 21:32

Ugh. I hate all this twee pink for a girl and blue for a boy shite, also hate any event where I'm told what to wear. I wouldn't go.

user1471447863 · 03/08/2022 21:40

"if we are attending" that's the important bit right there

Of course you could turn up dressed in blue and claim you misunderstood the instructions and thought it was dress in pink if you thought she was going to have a girl and blue for a boy <insert tinkly laugh>

godmum56 · 03/08/2022 21:42

W the actual F????

Yika · 03/08/2022 21:46

It's a bit OTT but you could borrow a pink top for the occasion. Better to just join in graciously I think (if you want to go) rather than make a point.

DoNotGetADog · 03/08/2022 21:50

Fantastic! Now you don’t have to go as you don’t have any clothes that fit the dress code.

Kite22 · 03/08/2022 21:53

Just sounds like another reason to not go to me.

If it was someone really, really, really close who really wanted you to be there, then you are close enough to tell them not to be ridiculous. If they aren't that close then it won't matter that you don't go.

Jollygreen · 03/08/2022 21:55

I don't own a single pink item of clothing. I hate pink.

There is no way I would purchase something pink just for a daft party.

easyday · 03/08/2022 21:55

All pink or can you just throw on a pink scarf? I don't anything pink and not buying something just for a shower, the very concept of which I have my doubts (and I grew up in America).

Penguinsaregreat · 03/08/2022 21:57

Have you got any pink accessories? Or pink nail polish ( reaching ).

toomuchlaundry · 03/08/2022 22:03

I’d wear blue!

CounsellorTroi · 03/08/2022 22:06

Ridiculous.

GreenManalishi · 03/08/2022 22:11

Pink nails

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 03/08/2022 22:49

I really dont understand all the horrified responses to being asked to wear pink.
It's not like they are asked to show up naked or something. If you have something pink and want to go, then wear it. If you dont but would like to go, borrow something pink. It's really not a big deal.

Kite22 · 03/08/2022 23:19

It isn't the colour per se, RootBeer, it is the micro managing and turning what some think of as a nice social occasion in to a performance, or show in which people are just puppets or characters.
