Does 15 month old need car seat on a coach?

Posting here for traffic sorry!

Does anyone know if a 15 month old needs to be in a car seat on a coach? Had a look on Google but couldn’t find out much information. I’m assuming they don’t because a 15 month can sit on a bus with no seat belt so surely must be okay on a coach with a seat belt? If anyone knows I’d be super grateful thank you:)

I wouldn’t use the seat belt on the coach as it would be far more dangerous in an accident.

National Express carry booster seats which position the seatbelt appropriately which may help avoid internal organ damage but a seatbelt wouldn’t restrain a 15mo anyway and they’d sustain a serious head injury from the seat in front even with a booster so the belt is frankly pointless.

I found beyond baby seat until about three, the worst age for coach travel. Baby seats are easy to carry (is she definitely too big? mine is small but she fit until 2.5yo) and boosters work at 3+ either carry a bubble bum or use coach one. We used an urban kanga on coaches at this age which is foldable and easy to carry.

if you choose to take the relatively small risk of her unrestrained that’s up to you, we all choose our risks but definitely avoid the seat belt as does nothing, but increases the chances of serious injury in the unlikely event of an accident.

The seatbelt won't be higher risk than being unrestrained... You seem to have misunderstood something. I think you're thinking about the risk of seatbelt vs booster, but if there's no booster seat available and it's seatbelt vs nothing, seatbelt is better. (Also even the seatbelt vs booster comparison is for older children)
