I suppose my aibu is that I feel like it won't.. Is there anyone out there with direct experience of this? I need to lose 3 stone. I've barely moved since covid started & I'm super unfit. I'm also menopausal & in my mid 50s. I want to be succesful. I want to be the sort of person who achieves. Trouble is, I have difficulty believing that if I lose weight and get fit my life will be any different. I'd want to feel more confident after, more energetic, more flexible and to have greatly increased self-belief. What d'you think? Will losing weight and truly getting fit change my perspective & confidence?

It depends, I see exercise as 'me time' as i enjoy it but I imagine a lot of people wouldn't see it that way! I love to run because it's peaceful and time away from my kids and I do get a rush after exercise. I usually exercise as early as possible and I feel like if I don't do anything else that day, ive at least exercised. I do running for the peace and HIIT workouts for the body! I do feel really body confident as well, but I wouldn't say I was someone who felt particularly unconfident before. I started exercising 2 years ago in lockdown as I was furloughed I didn't have any weight to loose but I wanted to be fitter and always liked the idea of running in the countryside. I definitely do feel more energised than I did before, I feel like I have more get up and go.

Post menopausal. Nearly 4 stone lost, toned muscles, able to do more. My life is exactly as it was when I was fat, if not worse thanks to the pandemic, but I do feel a lot better in my own skin/when I look in the mirror.

My life was great and I'd accomplished many things- apart from losing weight. Then I had a big thing coming up and I went for it, lost 4st (5.2 and exercise). Generally kept it off (within a half-stone). Yes it changed my life. I'm so much happier in my own skin being slimmer and healthier. I can walk into a shop try on a pair of 10 jeans and know (mostly!) that they'll fit.
