Piling on the pounds in the first trimester

Is this normal? Everything online says 1-4 pounds but I am 9.5 weeks and 7/8 pounds up.

I have been eating more than usual as eating stops me feeling sick but not exactly going crazy. My weight is normally very stable.

Does bloating cause weight gain? I hope to remain healthy and active so I am a bit worried that the baby is about 3cm or something and I’ve already gained so much!

Is this normal?

I put on about 10 lbs in the first 12 weeks and then it plateaued out until the last few weeks when I ballooned (mainly water retention).

Exactly what happened to me. I think I gained about 7kg or so in the first trimester. I didn't gain much more and I think I was 12kg over my pre-pregnancy weight the day I gave birth and lost most of it by the time I left hospital. The first trimester I could only have salt and vinegar snack-a-Jack's, M&s Colin the caterpillar sweets and ribena without throwing up. 2nd and 3rd trimester I craved cottage cheese and cut up veggies! Keep an eye on it but it may be just the way you gain.

Hey ! I’m 8 weeks and 3kg (about 6/7lbs up), same situation I’m horrifically nauseous about once every two hours and eating something is the only way to stave off the feeling. Being at work and having not told anyone yet this is a pain because you can’t casually make yourself crudités and hummus all the time I’m grabbing cakes and biscuits 🤦🏼‍♀️ Also craving McDonald’s chicken nuggets and not much else doesn’t help 😂 This is my first pregnancy and I don’t know how mums can bear having a second child I feel absolutely horrendous 24/7!! First trimester is brutal 🤢

You may find that it starts to plateau or slow in a few weeks time, and maybe pick up again in the 3rd trimester? I put on 0 weight until I got to 25 weeks. The baby had a growth spurt and now I'm 34 weeks I've put on a stone but no more. I think it's all just totally random!
