To drink Shloer after vomiting?

Hi everyone,

I've had a sickness bug with D and V since last night and have had a horrendous night of it. I've been tolerating water and some squash this morning, but Dr Google is recommending fizzy/sugary drinks.

Ideally I wouls go Lucozade but can't get any right now! All we have in the house is Shloer... Would you drink it?

Does anyone else have any ideas? I'm not sure I could convince anyone else to bring me anything more suitable!!

Thank you in advance

Most fizzy drinks have sweeteners these days. Just dissolve some sugar and a pinch of salt in water and drink that.

I'm sure it would be fine - all you're trying to do is replace the lost fluids and settle your stomach, so assuming you normally get on with Shloer (a drink I will forever associate with Christmas!), you'll be grand.

You could also try (if you think you could stomach it) a sort of home made electrolyte replacement:

750ml water
Juice of ½ lemon
1/8 to 1/4 tsp of salt
2 tsp of honey

Hope you feel better soon!

Can you get a full fat Coca-Cola?

I would find Schloer much easier to drink after a stomach bug than Lucozade.

In general, I've found that if I actually fancy eating/drinking a specific thing after a bug, that thing is usually OK to have - I had severe food poisoning a few years back and the nurse said 'Now, you can start trying to eat a little bit now, but make sure it's not anything spicy or rich...' and I thought 'Who the fuck would actually want to eat anything spicy or rich in this situation?!'

So if Schloer feels to you like something you could drink and the thought of it isn't making you feel queasy again, it's probably OK to try some and just sip it slowly. Just take care and don't drink loads in one go.
