To think covid is causing me to not be able to sleep?

I am on day 2 of covid and really struggled to sleep last night and unable to sleep this morning despite being shattered. It's not my symptoms causing me to be unable to sleep, I literally close my eyes and just can't nod off. Last night I felt like I was sleeping but also awake.

Did anyone else have this?

Are you taking any medication for the covid symptoms (if you have any)? Cold relief tablets, decongestants, cough mixtures, throat lozenges often include caffeine or ephedrine (or pseudoephedrine) etc. All of which are stimulants and will cause you not to sleep. Try night nurse.

Are you napping during the day? I slept a lot when I had covid so wasn't so tired at night.

Yes I had insomnia and do did several friends. It passed quickly though. Stay well x

I had this too. It really sucks but it does get better. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I'm also on day two. It's awful but I couldn't sleep due to needing the toilet all night which is odd because I didn't drink much yesterday.

I'm exhausted now but can't sleep during the day.

Yeah, I had insomnia for the first few days both times. Then I couldn't stay awake !

I had covid 3 weeks ago, felt awful for the first 4 days and had real trouble sleeping. The first night I woke at 2am, and could not get back to sleep. I tried to sleep the following day but only dozed fitfully and kept waking from feverish dreams, it was such a long miserable day .
Even night nurse didn't help.
The insomnia did pass after about 3 nights.
I think it's a symptom of this current variant.
Get well soon.

I had this and I also had it after all the jabs. Taking several hours to fall asleep

My bones ached and felt so stretched when I had it that I was physically unable to sleep at night because the pain would jolt me back awake which meant I kept randomly falling asleep throughout the days.
