Once an OP gets beyond about three short paragraphs I just can't be bothered to read further.

Is this a Mumsnet thing, a social media thing, a me thing?

There seem to be so many excessively long OPs here when literally a quarter of the words would do the same job, even taking into account drip feeding. I feel I could condense any OP into fewer than 100 words and it would still make sense.

AIBU?

It’s a modern thing. Look up Stolen Focus by Johann Hari.

YANBU but I'm torn because I also can't stand drip-feeds 😂

Having said that, it's all the unnecessary details that give me the hump.

I took the DC to McDonald's (it was the first time this year, they normally eat really healthily. Little Olivia is a quinoa addict and Thomas simply devours kale, but I'd taken them swimming and McDonald's was the only place we could grab something quick to eat because be we had to take the cat to the vet since that nasty incident with an octopus. I made sure they had carrot sticks instead of fries and for the rest of the week they'll live on healthy salads and 14 ltrs of water, blessed by Pope Francis).

Anyway, someone glared at me in the queue.

AIBU to think they were rude?

I think, being on here, you realise that a lot of people aren't very good at organising their thoughts before they begin to post. There are a lot of stream of consciousness type posts where the poster seems to have distracted themselves in the middle. er, what was I saying?

I can almost understand the example above, because they would just be trying to preempt the tenuously relevant comments about their children's diet, but sometimes the irrelevant information is just baffling.
