To find this really sad?

Dropped my godson off at nursery this morning.
As I was hanging his bag up, I watched as one of the nursery practitioners cuddled one of the babies and then put him by the slide to play on. An older nursery worker immediately told her to put him down and stop cuddling him as 'That's what he wants, you to just pick him up and cuddle him all day.' I just found it sad and also quite cold. Would have hated this sort of 'care' for my own kids

Wow that’s beyond sad. But I’m sure ‘experts’ will be along to tell us all that babies don’t need huge and cuddles and it’s bad for their independence in later life. Or some such pearls of wisdom.

That is awful.
How can trained nursery workers even think like this? Poor baby.

It sounds harsh but if she had one favourite child who she wanted to cuddle all day it wouldn't be fair. She has to divide herself between all the children. it depends on the context.

When my DS was a preemie in NICU I overheard a nurse saying not to cuddle X baby as that's what he wanted and he was manipulating mum and staff. A baby. A newborn, premature, poorly baby. Made me so anxious having to leave DS in case he was ignored.
