To use DH toothbrush

My DH leaves his shaving foam can out on the window sill EVERY TIME he uses it. It also leaves a rusty ring mark which I have to clean every bleddy time. I've asked him repeatedly to put it away.
Aibu to start using his toothbrush to clean it in future. Petty, I know but I'm pretty sure I'll feel much better

Fold a piece of toilet paper, put under can. No ring, no pettiness (well, not much), reminds him every time he sees it.

Modifying behaviour by little changes works for my DH, worth a go.

I find this really frustrating it's the small things. My DH just leaves everything everywhere, apparently he knows where it is then. Lids of toothpaste, milk/ butter out on the side, drink cans left on the floor.

Mostly I just correct it other times I end up shouting at him. Not sure what the answer is. But I feel your pain.

It's a small thing but It's irritating so I get you OP! I have a list of small things that mine does that irritates me.

I would t use his toothbrush no, but I would see this as a real indicator that he is asserting his authority over you. He isn't putting it away because he wants to show you he can do what he wants. A more respectful man would simply put it away. He isn't being forgetful here.

DianneITV · 01/08/2022 16:33

Go for it, show him who he is messing with 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Ontomatopea · 01/08/2022 16:49

Just put a coaster out?

No need to get nasty with his toothbrush.

Ontomatopea · 01/08/2022 16:50

Why does he have to put it away? As long as its not in sunlight and the ring problem can be solved with a coaster what is the problem?

FictionalCharacter · 01/08/2022 16:55

The toothbrush idea is horrible. Maybe take the can off the shelf and put it somewhere he can’t easily find it. Or behind the bin or something. Then tell him he can either put it away properly when he’s finished or continue to have to hunt for it every time.

Topgub · 01/08/2022 17:13

Why does he need to put it away?

The way I stack dishes is apparently very annoying to dh.

That's his problem, not mine

alnawire · 01/08/2022 17:25

Why are people asking why he should put it away? Isn't it normal to do this? What if he decides to put nothing away? Would that be ok, because 'why should he?'

He should because he does not live alone and putting your shit away is basic level respect.

Because if he lived on his own he would probably leave it out? I'm just wondering what the issue is apart from the ring. I leave my toothpaste tube on the side as I use it so often it's just there to grab.

Because leaving an item that you use every day out in the bathroom counter can be totally normal for many people. There is no rule that you are a better person because it’s in a drawer or cupboard. OP is simply forcing her to at onto her DH for no real reason. The shaving gel could easily sit on something rather than leaving a tiny bit it’s petty to demand it lives in a place of OP’s choosing when she isn’t the one using it.

Yes if its one item what is the harm? Its not a massive dildo.
