..to ask how you ask for a payrise?

I work for a fintech, joined at the start of the year. My manager tells me I am performing far better than what he expected from a junior.

I'm a career switcher, not fresh out of uni!

I work in London.

My old line of work had a very structured pay scale, no negotiations for pay as everyone followed the set pay scale.

As far as I know, pay rises and bonuses are discussed towards the end of the year and decided at year end.

Has anyone got any advice or tips for a woman who hasn't got a clue in the world of tech 😂?

In your next appraisal. Have you researched the average for your role and experience?

Start making a list of any responsibilities you've taken on or projects you've got over the line.

Be prepared to discuss in your next appraisal.

If the answer is no, ask them what things you'd need to do in order to achieve one and go work towards that.

Tbh the only time I've ever got pay increases were from taking on extra responsibilities that were outside my job description or leaving.

Good luck!

Do your research and gather your evidence. Then make your case.

Whats the going rate for your job have you bench marked it? What’s the rate?
