Nope, I thought it was excellent, we showed it at our local community cinema and it went down a storm

Where you actually paying attention to the plot? Have you seen the previous Daniel Craig Bond films - I can maybe understand it being a bit confusing at first if you had no idea what Spectre was...

dottypotter · 30/07/2022 15:16

did it follow on then?

None of the Daniel Craig films have been excellent. OK the first one was OK, but then there's the one that's a boring travelogue, the rapey one, the one where he has mummy issues...

It's got a plot involving nanobots, I don't think you are supposed to follow it. Just look at nice locations, car chases, explosions, good looking people.

WolverineBluey · 30/07/2022 15:41

Yes. It was going right over my head. Didn't get why the love interest was such a big thing, or why everyone was so cut up by the death of a particular character who wasn't even in it for very long.

Thought I'd seen Spectre, but turns out I never had Grin

SavoirFlair · 30/07/2022 15:51

It was extremely frustrating to watch because it was so self-referential. Someone at Broccoli/MGM thinks they created a “serial” with the Craig films.

Instead they made a set of horribly disjointed inter-related films, that were poorly tied together in a retcon scene in Spectre, and then tied together again in the latest one. Even though plot wise they weren’t properly designed that way.

for me Casino Royale was the high point for Craig, and Skyfall a very passable movie that was dangerously close to becoming an ITV3 afternoon movie.

The rest of the Craig set are really tedious to watch.

Luckydip1 · 30/07/2022 15:54

Spoiler Alert

Allowing Bond to die was a massive error by the franchise.

Best movie ever!! loved it

Tell me you're not a Bond fan without telling me you're not a Bond fan .....

That particular character (different actors obviously) has been in Bond since the beginning ... was in the first Casino Royale in 1953

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 30/07/2022 16:08

I can understand liking or disliking it, but I didn't find it difficult to follow. Now Mission: Impossible at the age of 10… that was confusing 🤣

burnoutbabe · 30/07/2022 16:23

i wasnt sure what was going on with rami and Bond's ex? did they have any relationship after the ice sinking scene when she was a child? wasn't there soemthing with him/her being a therapist (or maybe that was Blowfelt)

(i saw it back in cinema last year sometime)

IcedPurple · 30/07/2022 16:25

No Time To Die was good but not great. Lea Seydoux's Madeleine is one of the blandest Bond girls ever, and the age gap annoys me even if it's normal for this franchise. Also, babies and Bond don't mix.

girlfriend44 · 30/07/2022 16:26

Some people thought that the baby was Bonds but it wasnt. I agree if a film is hard to follow whats the point watching!

PuppyMonkey · 30/07/2022 16:30

I watched this a while back and cannot remember the plot at all but I do recall DP and I turning to each other at the end and going: “Eh?”

The only Bond film I like is Live and Let Die, and even that is pretty shit tbh.Grin

MaddieElla · 30/07/2022 16:31

I thought the baby turned out to be his as she said at the end "she has your eyes""?

I don't think the plot makes any sense unless the baby is his.

She was his. That's why he didn't mind dying because he had the killer DNA thingy in his system so he would never have been able to hold his child. Hope that makes sense. I got it but can't explain very well. Definitely didn't like the female 007 too try hard for my liking. He's meant to be a bit of a mysoginist.

Yes!

I think they got worried by how well franchises with long running arcs had done and were worried about staying relevant. I think they made a mistake and diluted the power of the central character. Turning it from an action romp that was happy to make fun of itself into an angst filled pseudo-political mess.

WolverineBluey · 30/07/2022 18:01

Aha Sleeping. Though I'd watched enough of them over the years but obviously not Grin

Genuinely thought I'd seen all the Craig Bonds before this one. Not particularly invested, so everything had all amalgamated into one really.

I did enjoy Casino Royale a lot, and loved Chris Cornell's theme.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 30/07/2022 18:08

Casino Royale was the pinnacle of Bond, the rest were mediocre or bad. I thought Lea Seydoux was utterly hopeless and unbelievable, the baby was also a completely dumb storyline. I also didn’t like the replacement 007 in No Time To Die, she was also crap.
