AIBU to think that Giles Coren deserved to lose his job on the BBC’s Amazing Hotels?

I started an AIBU thread a few weeks ago as I was furious that Giles Coren had used the phrase “fuzzy-wuzzies” in one of his Times articles.

There is a big story about him losing his job on Amazing Hotels as a consequence of mocking and celebrating Dawn Foster’s death. In my mind it has not come a moment too soon and the fact the BBC took a whole year to give him the boot is pathetic.

I spotted this on Twitter and I think it is makes some very good points about how appalling it is that Giles Coren got away with it for so long “at the license payers’ expense”, as the man himself puts it.

Looking forward to Giles Coren and Laurence Fox being given a shared platform on one of those new nasty TV channels for nasty people. They can all chunter away sharing bigotry till the cows come home and entertain each other without intruding on the rest of us.

I only know of him from the Hotel show with MG (who's lovely on it) and my opinion is that the man's a complete arse. An attention seeking, unpleasant, self important, rude, self serving arse.

In some of the episodes his behaviour actually makes viewing uncomfortable.

So - YADNBU IMO!

We need a thread on who'll replace him on the Hotel show!

I’d watch it if it were co-hosted by Freddie Flintoff or Jamie Redknapp (they are both hot and seem really nice and are also both very tall) so fit the BBC’s brief of being “as unlike Giles Coren as possible”. I liked them in a travel/challenge thing they did with Jack Whitehall. Or maybe Romesh Ranganathan. He is great in travel shows as he is funny without being sneering. But maybe Romesh wouldn’t have time to do it as he is on almost every BBC TV/radio show. Hmm…
