To wear my DGFs ring

DF died recently and in his box of mementoes we found a box with his DFs wedding ring in it.

it fits my right middle finger, it’s a plain gold band.

would it be weird to just wear it? I never actually met my grandfather - and for various reasons my DF wasn’t close to him, but what else to do with it? Not much point in leaving it in a box…

tell me what you’ve done with redundant but nondescript jewellery you didn’t want to sell

If it doesn't upset anyone, and it's yours to do what you like with, then why not make use of it.

If it means something to you then wear it. Personally I would sell it and put the money towards something else, as I'm not very sentimental and I dont wear jewellery, but theres no reason not to wear it.

Put it in a box to pass down to the next generation to keep in a box. Or if times get desperate sell it.

You could have it melted/remade into something you prefer? My mum did this years ago with a few of her own old pieces that had dated/she didn’t like anymore. Find a nice independent craftsperson or jeweller and work with them to create something ‘you’ 😀

I think it's fine, I wear Dh's uncle's ring just because I loved it and no one wanted it when he passed away. I'd rather that than selling it or leaving it in a drawer

Nothing at all wrong with this, much better than it sitting in a jewellery box doing nothing or getting lost!
