non-smart phone for 11yo

So dd is going to secondary school in September. Having to travel by train by herself so I want her to have a phone for emergencies, but don't want a smartphone and all the potential hazards that might entail. Has anyone else given their child a non-smart phone? Does anyone have any recommendations? Also is it possible to get GPS on one? I am thinking probably not, but would be great if it was possible.

I just got mine a simple Nokia from Asda with it unlocked, got a sim, and pay as you go. It does connect to the internet but the screen is so poor it's virtually unusable. Fine for texting and phoning. We've also got these Samsung tags that ping off other phones and we can see where they are, which is quite useful.

We using AirTags and a Nokia brick. glad we have avoided smart phone so far

I have AirTags and use find my iPhone as well - the actual phones are definitely better for "tracking" if that is important to you.
