To worry about Bored Panda and other social media

I like posting on here, because I feel anonymous. But when I see pages like Bored Panda and others posting Mumsnet stories on Facebook, I worry that people I know, who follow those pages will identify me and I end up deleting my posts.
Am I the only one? Or am I worrying over nothing?

Well tbh if anyone recognises one of my stories, it’s because they’ve heard it before - so I’m not really bothered.

YANBU at all. The lifting of threads from here into the national press and social media channels you mention is a real downside to MN in my opinion. I know MN is a big platform but I know that certain people are not on here but they might see my post via the other channels. Puts me off posting for sure.

Don't post anything you wouldn't want shared

MN has thousands of readers from all over the world. It's no more private than any other website.

If you don't want your stories picked up, don't post them, or change enough about them that they're no longer identifiable.

I try not to post anything super identifying (there are only a couple of things in my life that would be tbh). I tend to post opinions rather than life descriptions. I don't post geographical info so if anyone asks 'does anyone know anything about x school/pub/street' I wouldn't answer.

That's exactly my point - I am put off posting on MN because of the risk of it being picked up elsewhere.

Me too, plus I have different user names for different boards.
