Hello,
First, I am really sorry if I should not be posting this here but wanted lots of replies.
I wanted to ask for some advice on what regions in England are nice places, affordable and has countryside vibes for buying a new build with Shared Ownership. My family is from Glasgow and we want to buy a new build house but, our options are limited here in Scotland because we do not get any help to buy schemes anymore. The mortgage brokers I spoke with suggested that if I look at England we could get help to buy equity (but this runs out soon) or Shared Ownership. This is to qualify for a 5% deposit.
The first major issue is that we don't really want to move to England because of a help to buy scheme but, I am open to doing some research and considering this. I am just a bit confused and lost at where to look, what house builders as they are sometimes different in England and whether a builder such as Taylor Wimpey has to have it advertised that they do Shared Ownership or not?
I want to be near a city within 30-40 minutes but have countryside living with nice parks but not exactly in the middle of nowhere like in Emmerdale. I did fancy Cumbria but struggling to see anywhere around there that has nice new build developments. I also liked Suffolk, Southampton (been there so nice) but I think houses prices closer and around London are very expensive?
Based on affordability we can afford £217,000 on a mortgage so I am not sure if we can go for a bigger valued house say around £260,000 or £290,000 on shared ownership or if it doesn't work like that compared to help to buy?
Based on our circumstances we cannot get a 5% deposit without a Government scheme and that's why we are looking into this. We could get a 10% deposit offer but that would mean more months of saving which we will do if it comes to that.
Any suggestions welcome and hope you all have a good day
