Worried about 4 year old who has a cough but no cold symptoms

He’s had a cough for just under a week.
It’s quite productive and seems worse at night when lying down, but no snotty nose or anything to accompany it. No fever. Not out of sorts in any way. Slightly off his food, but nothing significant.

Why are you worried? I'd just wait and see if it passes if he's otherwise well

@thaegumathteth because I always thought if it was a cough on its own with no other symptoms then it was a concern? Or maybe I’m getting confused.

Well I'm not a medical professional but I've been a mum 15 years Wink and it wouldn't worry me at all. What would it be a concern for? If he's otherwise well then give him another week or so and see how he is. Also have you tried an antihistamine?

My preschooler had this for a while a couple of months ago. I was just glad it didn't morph into him actually being poorly. If you're concerned contact your GP in the morning.

Mine had that recently. Two weeks with a hideous chesty cough that was worst at night/first thing in the morning - but no other symptoms or issues. I eventually took her to the GP and the doctor thought it warranted a course of antibiotics. That fixed it
