To ask about smear test

I’m booked in this afternoon and I just started to bleed very lightly. I have a coil and don’t have regular periods but every so often have a very light bleed. Is it still ok to go for a smear test?

Yes. I was told by a nurse to go anyway when this happened to me.

Yes I'm a nurse smear taker and if its only very light bleeding, it won't be a problem taking a sample.

I think the smear tests used now are far more sensitive/able to cope with things such as you describe, OP.

I remember the old days of having to time it immaculately (no pun intended!) and it wasn't fun! But they have managed to finesse the whole thing so much more now. What a shame I only have a handful left, being nearly of 'a certain age' 😂
