Knowing what a woman is means fuck all when you’re comfortable with selling them out.

Was it not an attempt to get countries like Malta to sign. I think the argument here isn’t Truss’s stance on abortion but whether it’s better to have countries like Malta sign something progressive or do you include abortion, accept some countries won’t sign but hold that as essential.

I would argue that abortion and reproductive choices are fundamental to any sex equality statement and should have been kept, but I’m not a diplomat. I don’t think it can be assumed to be a reflection on LT opinion.

Wow, I find that terrifying that she can do that, surely she can’t just make changes without prior agreement? She is an awful woman.

echt · 27/07/2022 23:09

It was done without any consultation.

Fladdermus · 27/07/2022 23:14

She unilaterally changed the wording AFTER other the countries had agreed to the wording and signed the statement. What gave her the right to do that, other than arrogance? Britain wasn't even leading the event, Norway were chairing it, and they knew nothing about the changes.

She is a bloody disgrace. It was a completely undemocratic decision and she has got some explaining to do. Although that article also states The prime minister’s special envoy on FoRB, the Conservative MP Fiona Bruce, was heavily involved in the gathering. Bruce is co-chair of the all-party parliamentary “pro-life” group of MPs. It's bad enough fighting men for our hard won rights, but when other women are selling us out it's a real stab in the back.

I’m very keen to hear her explanation. I’m guessing she’ll maintain radio silence until she’s safely elected leader.
