DD age 6 has threadworms. Thankfully not bothering her much. Pharmacist gave ovex which she took 3 days ago but still seeing the little blighters and they are still alive! She's had a poo this evening with loads of them crawling on it. Is it normal for them not to be dead yet? Its not reinfection as its never stopped. I'm really worried.

YABU - just give it time, it's normal
YANBU - go back to the pharmacist

It take a few days for them to die as it kills them by starving them rather than chemically killing them

Yep, totally normal. DS got them regularly throughout primary and it always seemed to get worse before it got better after he took the meds. Do make sure you give her another dose 10-14 days later though to get the ones that have hatched since the first dose (Ovex only kills the live ones).

Raw carrots are thought to help get rid of threadworms if she will eat them. In addition to the Ovex of course.

I’d actually continue the course giving one at 10 day intervals for next few weeks. Sounds like quite an infestation.

watch sugar intake ( they thrive on this), strict hygiene method, grated carrot and pumpkin seeds.

Treat whole family.
